Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Initiative
KLK is committed to reduce our greenhouse gas (GHG) emission in our operations. We are constantly exploring best practices and new technologies while identifying operational activities that contributes to high GHG emission. Palm Oil Mil effluent is one of the main source GHG and to mitigate this emission, we have taken the following initiatives:
Filter Belt Press
Belt press systems allow KLK to not only manage the Palm Oil Mill effluent but also reduce the formation of methane gas in the lagoons. It also converts the waste into fertiliser that is reapplied to our plantations.

Biogas Power Plant
MC plant traps and utilises methane gas – a potent greenhouse gas (GHG) produced from palm oil mill effluent. The captured methane gas is used as a renewable energy source.

Apart from achieving GHG emission reduction, our palm oil mill effluent is also in compliance with the legal limit for Biological Oxygen Demand. We continuously monitor the parameter as part of our commitment to protect the environment.
