ENVIRONMENT
KLK emphasises on the protection and conservation of our natural environment.
This element is disseminated to our operations through the following commitments:
Eco-Edutourism (Taman Sungai Dumaring)
Taman Sungai Dumaring was inaugurated on December 20, 2021, by the Governor of East Kalimantan, Mr. Isran Noor. The development of this place acts as the engine for the development of other product business such as stingless bee honey, nurseries, palm sugar, creative industries, and other non-timber forest products.
Palm Sugar
This KUPS utilises palm sap to produce several products which include nira manis, palm sugar, juruh, and gula semut.
Creative Industry
Batik Eco-print is one of the products coming from this KUPS. This batik is environmentally friendly as it is produced using natural dyes (tannins from leaves). It fetches a high selling value and has distinctive motifs.
Stingless Bee Honey
Stingless bee honey contains many vitamins eg. C, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B8, B9, and B12. Currently, the kelulut honey KUPS has 32 active members with 519 wooden hives and the production reaches 12 litres of honey per month.
Nursery
This KUPS aims to provide seedlings for the local community, companies, or rehabilitation programs in the Dumaring Village Forest. Out of the 30 seedlings in this nursery, 6 types – ie. Aren, Kapur, Kemiri, Mangrove, Meranti and Ulin have received the “Sumber Benih Tanaman Hutan” certification from Balai Perbenihan Tanaman Hutan (BPTH) Wilayah I. This certification aims to assess the parent trees that will be the source of seedlings for cultivation. The certified tree species will have a higher selling value for the seedlings.
